Abel Tasman Educational Trust (ATET)
ATET is a Private Training Provider based in Riwaka. ATET has been registered with New Zealand Qualifications Authority since 1992 as a Private Training Establishment and offering accredited training since 1995.
We have a strong social support philosophy and encourage our students to prepare themselves for working life by developing essential life skills, self-management skills and communication skills as well as supporting students through a range of industry recognised Qualifications and National Certificates from the New Zealand Qualifications Framework.
Our focus is on providing individualised services that ensure each individual is supported to achieve genuine success. We have small class sizes and access to a wide range of social and educational supports. Our current programmes include:
Employment and Lifeskills for Hospitality - Youth Guarantee funded, fees free training for 16-19 year olds to achieve a range of qualifications including; the New Zealand Certificate in Hospitality Level 2 and NCEA levels 1 and 2.
Training for Work - 12 week industry focussed training in Retail and Hospitality or Commercial Driving Retail and Hospitality - Barista Certificate, Customer Service, Bar Manager Licence, Silver service, Cash Handling, Kiwihost Customer Service, International Bar Tenders Certificate.
Driving for Industry - Commercial Driving qualifications, Driver Licence class 2-5, Passenger endorsement, Wheels Tracks and Rollers, Dangerous Goods, Fork Lift Operators Certificate, School Bus Certificate, Traffic Control Certificate.
Youth Development
Delivered under The Ministry of Youth Development Funding, we provide a range of programmes throughout the year and during the school holidays. Projects for 2015/2016 include:
- Electronic Music
- Urban Art/Street Art
- Silversmithing
- Traditional Art - Bone Carving/ Wood Carving. Harakeke, Tattoo Design
- Up and Going - Active Youth - a Five day youth development programme that teaches leadership, team work and communication skills
- Young Mums Group - Bringing together Young Mums in a supportive forum that allows for youth work around prevalent issues such as motivation self-esteem, connectedness, cooking and nutrition, wellness, budgeting and parenting and communication skills
Alternative Education - For students of Motueka High School we provide individualised programmes for students who require a different environment in which to experience success. With a mix of provision including; literacy and numeracy support, Life skills (cooking budgeting , independent living, communication skills) coupled with PE and Outdoor Education experiences which include; Waka Ama, Sea Kayaking, Climbing, Mountain Biking and Rafting. We focus on students experiencing success against their educational, self -management and social goals.
Youth Service A tracking and mentoring service that links school leavers aged 16-17 who require assistance into Further Education, Training or Employment.
