St Vincent de Paul Society
St Vincent de Paul Society offers emergency aid to those suffering hardship; through illness, lack of work, or inadequate Benefit assistance. One project has been the supply of emergency firewood to needy elderly, or otherwise impaired households.
On-going service is provided by applying to our office at Community House on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1.30 - 2.30pm for friendly assistance and encouragement. Often food vouchers are supplied this way.
We aim to complement the food service offered by Salvation Army, which is available on days when we are not open. We visit homes for support work as well, and pay particular attention to Hospital and Rest Home visiting. We also work closely with the Family Service centre in Talbot Street, for budgeting advice, and family support.
