Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower Trust (Kidpower NZ) is a charitable organisation which aims to teach people the skills needed to be emotionally and physically safe with others and with themselves.
This includes skills such as
- Setting boundaries for better relationships
- Safety plans to prepare for the unexpected
- Speaking up for oneself and for others
- Self protection to prevent trouble
- Self defence skills to stop emergencies
These skills can prevent situations which people find intimidating from escalating and getting out of control. Even though the issues we deal with are serious, the Kidpower approach is empowering, dynamic and fun.
We offer the following programmes:
-
Kidpower Parent-Child Workshops for 4-7 year olds
These two-to three-hour workshops give parents or guardians the opportunity to learn along with their children. Trained instructors introduce the Everyday Safety skills of being and acting aware, taking charge, and getting help. Each step of the way, the adults are coached in how to practice these skills with their children.
-
Kidpower Workshops for 8-12 year olds and Teenpower Workshops for 13 to 18 year olds
Children and / or teenagers practice taking charge when they are on their own, bullied, intimidated, touched inappropriately or assaulted. They have fun while learning important verbal and physical life skills through active practice in role plays and self defence practice on the head-to-toe padded instructors. Each step of the way, the participants are taught to go for help as soon as possible.
-
Fullpower and Team Corporate Workshops for adults
Positive empowering decisions become a natural response to challenges not only in potentially dangerous situations but many other challenges in daily life. In this workshop we practice effective verbal and physical ways to take charge when feeling threatened.
