Volunteering for Alzheimer's Support Services
Voluntary work is a key to a healthy community. Research on why some communities are better places to live in than others showed that the highest levels of voluntary work on a per capita basis also have the happiest communities.
If voluntary work is a recipe for happiness for us living here in Motueka I want to ask, on behalf of the society for any local people who have a few hours each month.
Alzheimers will provide training and ongoing support for you and as part of the team supporting the fieldworkers, clients and carers.
The awareness of professionals and carers about the value of our service and the opening of the Dementia Unit in Jack Inglis Friendship Hospital has led to an increase of dementia client referrals for the Alzheimers Society.
Our current volunteers with their specific interests, variety of expertise and individual personalities add richness to the experiences of our clients and their carers. Are you ready to join us, gain experience and knowledge of working with our clients and add to the levels of happiness in our community?
If you want to ask more questions about this work please contact Rose, Sue or Heather on .
