Dining 4 Twelve

Dining 4 Twelve has been a very successful initiative created two years ago to encourage single people in the 50+ age group to get out and about and meet and mingle and expand their horizons.

It is definitely not a dating club and although the group's name suggests that only 12 people are catered for each time, when it was formed it was with that number in mind. The group found that it was so successful as 60 people joined! Certainly all 60 people do not attend every activity, but 20+ is an average number.

There are no rules, no fees, just a happy band of people that get together once a fortnight. Included in the groups activities have been picnics, bike rides, renting a house in Pohara for a weekend. People have offered their homes for Pot Luck Teas which are always most enjoyable and we have dined at some lovely places which include Melrose House in Nelson to the Honest Lawyer in Stoke, Poppy Thai in Richmond and Chokdee in Motueka.

The idea is to spread the venues so that people from Nelson through to Golden Bay can enjoy the companionship of others and some wonderful friendships have been struck.

To be included on the roll, all we need is your email address - send it to and when you hear from us, you can then decide whether or not to participate in what's on offer at any particular time! Remember - its fun, its therapeutic and there is no pressure to do anything!

Last event:

(March 26) Eight Dining for Twelve friends enjoyed a meal at the Arthur Wakefield bar on Saturday March 26. As usual the company was good, the venue a success and the meals were enjoyed by all. Two new friends joined us and it was good to see new faces. Theresa and June told us about their recent adventure in Sri Lanka and Pauline brought us up to date with her plans for her pending trip. Plans to meet again were circulated but not formulated - but we are all looking forward to catching up again sometime in the near future.

Next on the event calendar:

Short notice but it will be fun! An evening at Ian's - don't bring anything, just send me your Thai or Fish and Chip order and Ian will get it - 7pm at his place 12 Fergusson Street Stoke, this Saturday the 9th. Bring some change to pay for your order.

Let's get together before it gets too cold and have a bit of fun. Names and orders ASAP - see your there! Bring a friend - male or female if you would like to.
