Motueka Veteranettes Leisure Marching Team
Our team at the 'Top of the South' event in Greymouth, February 2010
|
We are a 50s-plus marching team ranging in age from 59 years to 77 years. Our current membership is 13, and we have 2 honorary members.
We usually travel to leisure marching events two to three times a year, mainly in the South island, and we have been as far south as Invercargill. We also march locally when requested at events such as the Starlight Parade and some sporting festivals.
Leisure marching is a non-competitive sport focusing on fun, fitness and friendship, and we do have an awesome time, we can assure you.
We practise once a week, usually on a Friday mornings at 10 a.m. outside the Recreation Centre.
We are also actively engaged in fundraising, which mainly consists of sausage sizzles outside The Warehouse, jam and pickles sales (all made by members), and the occasional raffle. Any new fundraising ideas would be most welcome. The funds raised cover most of our travelling costs to go to marching events.
If you think this sounds like you, we would love you to join us.
