The Motueka Tramping Club runs a trip every weekend, except in the mid-December to mid-January period. We try to alternate Sunday trips with Saturday/Sunday, or long weekend, "overnighters".

Occasionally, we team a "hard" trip with an easy Sunday trip. For the overnight trips we use DOC huts mostly, and occasionally run tenting trips.

The trips range from very easy (social) to those requiring a high degree of fitness. The day trips are advertised in the Motueka Golden Bay News. The complete trip list is updated periodically on this site - see below.

Those wishing to join a trip are expected to commit to overnight trips by Wednesday evening and to day trips by Thursday evening. The trip leader then arranges car-pooling, (passengers are asked to make a contribution towards the cost), and makes the final decision, depending on the weather, for the trip to start.

We offer prospective members two trips to see if they like us, after which they are expected to become financial. Our modest annual subscriptions are: $9 for Juniors, $12 for Seniors, and $15 for a family. Federated Mountain Club's affiliation fee is an optional $12. This offers some useful discounts including 30% on DOC's Annual Hut Pass.

The club committee meets bi-monthly and its members (who are often trip leaders) are readily available to discuss or forward any concerns or suggestions. An AGM is held in April and there are occasional club evenings. We also run Christmas and mid-winter weekend "feast" trips where we usually book out a lodge.

The club does not own equipment, apart from a large "fly', and two Personal Locator Beacons (available for private hire by members). Members are expected to be self-sufficient. Some negotiate personal sharing arrangements for tents, stoves etc.
