The Motueka 50+ Walking Group

Welcome to the web-page of the Motueka 50+ Walking Group. We hope you are visiting us because you enjoy walking in, and exploring, the beautiful and geographically varied Tasman/Nelson region.

Founded in 1980, with the primary objective of providing a social network through walking for people aged 50 and over, the Motueka 50+ Walking Group currently has around 200 members.

Our walks, which are located in the area stretching from the Nelson Lakes to Farewell Spit, are held every Thursday.

To cater for different levels of fitness, we usually have two or three groups walking every Thursday. We meet for our walks at Decks Reserve car park in Motueka (behind the Motueka iSite), where car-pooling is arranged. Starting times from Decks Reserve vary for the different walks and both groups return some time in the afternoon.

Occasionally bus (and boat) trips are organised for walks further afield. Some purely social events are also held. Longer trips lasting several days explore more distant regions like the West Coast, Marlborough and Canterbury.

Meetings are held on the last Thursday of each month in the RSA hall in High Street, Motueka, beginning at 9.30 am, followed by an optional walk.

Visitors are always very welcome and are invited to experience the fabulous world of scenic and social walking with the Motueka 50+ Walking Group. A special feature of this is our access to privately owned land, thanks to the generosity of many owners.
