Perfect weather for jumping out of a plane
September 23rd, 2016
[by David Armstrong]
Could the organisers of the Good Vibes skydiving event have ordered better weather conditions than what they've dished up for the town and its adventurous visitors these past few days?
Motueka shops, cafes and motels have been buzzing with the first major event of the town calendar.
Good Vibes 2016 celebrates its 15th year of what is now the country's longest running annual skydive event, and 25 years of skydiving over the Abel Tasman.
By Friday the unbroken blue skies over Motueka have been the playground of around 50 visiting skydivers as they jump from a rotation of hard-working planes climbing and landing as quickly as they can.
Occasionally a group of jumpers can be seen attempting formations during their freefalls. Anyone can visit the aerodrome and hang out watching the experienced jumpers at play, or even have a go themselves.
