Memorial Hall was picture of health yesterday with people learning about and shopping for health, fitness and beauty products and services.

The four hour festival, a fundraiser for the Motueka Community Swimming Pool project, attracted up to 200 people and raised well in excess of $2,000 to help cover the pool.

There were 25 stalls with products ranging from lavender oils and massage to first aid practice and skin products.

With a peak of numbers around 11 a.m. to just after lunch, visitors also viewed bonus demonstrations of belly dancing and Zumba on the stage.

A sausage sizzle at the hall entrance, along with some breezy music from Jiggery Folkery, and a very busy Flossie with her balloons and face-painting, made up the day's entertainment.

A feature was a silent auction of about 20 donations and vouchers made mainly by health product suppliers, which raised itself over $800.

The pool fundraising team of about a dozen helpers were kept busy, but were rapt in the result. They wanted to thank all of the stall holders and people who donated products and services for their contributions to the event and to the pool project.

This was the largest event held to date by the pool fundraising group, but there are several more being lined up before the end of this year. These will include a dance and an Ambrose golf tournament in November, as well as three big raffles.

Organisers say with these events in mind, the tally of fundraising from the community may pass the halfway mark to the target.
