Wellbeing festival to raise money for pool project
August 15th, 2016
Memorial Hall will be the venue for a Festival of Health, Beauty and Fitness, a large fundraising event for the Motueka Community Swimming Pool project.
So far 25 exhibitors will have stalls in the hall, showcasing products and services in their specialist fields. It will run from 10.00am to 2.00pm on Sunday August 21st.
The range of exhibitors is very diverse, including health practitioners to mosaics, Pilates to Doterra Oils, Tennis Club to Lavender products - something for everyone.
As a family event, there will be plenty of things to keep the children amused, including Flossie the balloon/face-painting artist.
A belly dancing display will take place on the stage at 11.30am, followed by a Zumba demonstration at 12.00pm. A pizza oven outside the hall is bound to be kept busy, and Jiggery Folkery will be playing outside the hall.
There will also be a silent raffle with plenty of good products to bid for, and a $2 raffle will be running throughout the event. The entry fee is only $2 for adults and 50c for school-aged children.
Fundraising for the pool project - to roof and enclose the high school pool for community use eventually year-round, is now into full swing.
Pool committee chairman Fred Hickling says the majority of funds needed will come from large funding agencies, naming rights and in-kind by construction businesses donating their time and materials.
"We are well on the path to lining up some great commitments along this line.
"About one quarter of our required funds we need to get from the general community through donations, events and raffles and we are now moving towards being halfway towards that target."
