Business get-together to scotch winter blues

August 12th, 2016
[by David Armstrong]

Our Town Motueka is hosting another information and social evening to help business owners network, expand their horizons and get out of the "winter blues".

OTM is inviting business owners and other people interested in the economic future of Motueka to partake of complimentary drinks and nibbles, to catch up with colleagues and enjoy some networking opportunities.

This follows a successful and stimulating meeting held four months ago, and organiser Claire Hutt says the feedback she is getting is that this time even more people will attend.

In a way the meeting is also a celebration of the work done by the Our Town Motueka committee over the past 12 months in stabilising their budget and bringing together ideas to create a sound business promotion strategy.

They intend to hold these social events quarterly, rotating the venue among the town's restaurants. This time they will meet at The Smoking Barrel, located in High Street beside the Anglican Church.

The first guest speaker for the evening will be John Prestidge, talking about how he came to be the Motueka High School Principle, and sharing information about the school's Trades Programme and its goal of training our young people into local jobs.

The second speaker will be Dave Moloney, Manager of Motueka's BNZ. A gifted toastmaster, he will give an inspiring and entertaining presentation aimed at "lifting our spirits, looking ahead towards the coming season and helping us get out of the winter blues".

The refreshments begin at 5.30pm on Thursday August 18th. Our Town Motueka's Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday September 8th.
