If you thought the traffic through Motueka this past week has been exceptional, you may well be right.
So far it looks like being a bumper summer for local retailers, according to findings published by the Nelson Mail today.
"Summertime retail trading sets the scene of the year ahead, and by all accounts Motueka's retailers will be in the black for 2015," the article began.
It then quoted Motueka Nelson Building Society manager Howie Timms who said business is booming in the town. "In December we have seen the biggest growth in deposits for one month - ever. From a business point of view that is fantastic."
Whitwells Menswear manager Brent Prestridge also told the Nelson Mail that summer had started well for his store and the weather, so far, was better than last year's.
He said Motueka has a good vibe at the moment with new stores adding to the town's retail experience. "A good Christmas can set up a retailer for the year. Every retailer holds their breath at Christmas time."
