Anti-violence campaign to launch in Motueka next week
October 7th, 2014
The Motueka Collaboration of Agencies (CoA) is preparing to launch the 10 Good Men campaign, in which a collection of local leaders say publicly that family violence Is Not OK.
CoA is a group of family violence intervention agencies in the Motueka and wider Tasman community. Recently they completed the 10 Good Men campaign, profiling a collection of men in our community who are willing to take a public stance to say that family violence Is Not OK.
The men involved in the campaign include well-know public figures such as Mayor Richard Kempthorne, multi-sport legend Nathan Fa'avae, and Salmonella Dub musician Andrew Penman.
Others include Jesse Hedges who works at Whitwell's, Reverend Matt Beech, Michael Wells (Tasman Makos player), Lawrence Graham, Glen Stronger, Constable Grant Heney, Patrick Bailey (Kiwi Pallets) and Charles Cornforth of Probations.
Each man has had his photo taken, and these images, along with a personalised message from the men, have been made into a series of posters that will be made highly visible in the Motueka and wider Tasman community over the coming months.
To kick-start the campaign, CoA are having a casuals morning-tea launch celebration next Thursday, October 16th, at 10am in front of Whitwell's Menswear, to which everyone is invited.
Similar campaigns have taken place in other communities around New Zealand, and CoA are hoping to showcase Motueka's 10 Good Men Campaign in a similar light.

Hi CoA, Well done on the campaign '10 Good Men', it looks excellent, especially seeing men laughing and having fun together as mates, helping and supporting. It seems a great idea to collaborate all organizations to focus on this.
Next I would like to see a .... "Great Men Make Great Dads" ... campaign, and this really starts when men are still boys, and their dads give them the time and love they deserve. What about it? Meanwhile let the campaign begin.
