Entries open for inaugural toy making contest

Entries are now open for the Motueka Arts Council's inaugural 'Make a Child's Toy Competition'.

Entries close on Friday 15th July with worthwhile prizes for the following classes:

Class 1 - Child's Toy, Created with Wool - any method.
1st prize - $50 sponsored by Nelson/Marlborough/Buller Area Creative Fibre,
Most innovative toy - a wool pack sponsored by Cruella's Natural Fibre Boutique.
Class 2 - Child's Toy, Created with Fabric - any method.
1st prize - $50 sponsored by Nelson Building Society,
Most innovative toy - $50 voucher sponsored by Cushla's Village Fabrics
Class 3 - Child's Toy, using any other material (eg - wood, metal etc)
1st prize - $50 sponsored by Nelson Building Society,
Most innovative toy - $50 voucher sponsored by ITM, Motueka
Class 4 - Child's Toy, made by a person aged 16 years or under - any materials and method
1st prize - $25 sponsored by Heart Gallery, Mapua,
Most innovative toy - product sponsored by Paper Plus, Motueka

$50 awarded to best overall child's toy, sponsored by Nelson Building Society

Merit Awards will be awarded to the best toys judged suitable for the following age groups:
3 years and under, 4 - 7 years, and 8 - 12 years - sponsored by New World Motueka, Pomeroy's Teas and Coffees and Elevation Cafe

There will also be a lucky draw for all entrants - sponsored by Wilsons Abel Tasman (Vista Cruise and Walk voucher for 2 people valued at $156.00)

After judging there will be displays of toys in some of Motueka's shop windows, followed by an exhibition of all the toys in the Motueka Memorial Hall on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th August from 10am - 4pm. Prizes will be awarded at 3.30pm.
