Radio New Zealand now on Freeview HD

Motueka and Nelson missed out when Freeview HD (the UHF service) came to the Nelson/Tasman region because Radio New Zealand did not feature on the Channel list.

Radio New Zealand recently decided to extend their service to Freeview HD in Nelson/Tasman and the service started on the 18th February.

What this means is that anyone using the Freeview HD service (you will have a UHF arerial pointed to Mt Campbell) can now retune their TV or set-top box to receive RNZ National on Channel 50 and RNZ Concert on Channel 51.

The big advantage of this move is that Checkpoint with John Campbell is being broadcast with video so you can see "radio with pictures".

For many of us who live in the Moutere and are in the shadow of the Nelson FM trannsmitter, the new service provides high quality sound that was previously unobtainable.
