Equestrian offers free coaching and event management

January 9th, 2016

A Motueka coach and event organiser is offering free "taster training sessions" as part of her dream of helping equestrians of all disciplines achieve their dreams.

Sue Clark, head instructor at the Motueka Pony Club and long-time event organiser for Motueka Dressage Group, is throwing her seemingly boundless energy into building the next generation of keen Motueka equestrians.

Sue suffered life-threatening injuries a few years ago when she was downed by a large tree blown over in a major storm, whilst she was tending to her horse Ollie.

Although riding occasionally once again, she has become even more involved than before the accident in community development, which now includes fund-raising for the Community Swimming Pool (treasurer) and organising for the A & P Association (secretary).

A qualified Equestrian New Zealand Coach, Sue is offering learner riders a 45-minute free assessment session to help them get going in equestrian competitions.

"My speciality is helping beginner riders to gain or regain their confidence through easy to understand instruction," she says. "If you can improve your work on the flat, this will then improve your jumping skills too.

"The time is right to give back to my sport and what way better than to share my knowledge and experience with the riders."

And her many years of experience allows her to offer help in organising and running equestrian events. She was invited to coach riders at the Cromwell Pony Club and was a list 4 dressage judge. Currently she writes for the Nelson Show Jumping group.

As a rider in the past, she competed successfully in South Island 3D, 2D and 1D Eventing and Show-jumping, and at present is competing in Level 3 Dressage.

If you think she can help and would like to book a session free of charge, please contact her on or email . She also has a Facebook page, "".
