Riwaka market set for its New Year tradition
December 16th, 2015
[by Liz Mahoney]
For the last three decades on January 2nd, the Riwaka Market has been something of a New Year tradition for locals and visitors.
It'll be in the usual place at the attractive Riwaka Domain on January 2, 2016.
The relaxed, free market has stalls of every description: pottery, art, crafts, food, clothes and a whole lot more.
And Riwaka Market's popular boysenberries and cream and boysenberry jam scones will be on sale as always (photo, right).
Open from 9am till 2pm, the Riwaka Market is the start-of-year fundraiser for the Motueka Pottery Workshop that is based at the domain and the potters sell their wares at very reasonable prices.
Workshop members make individually crafted pottery pieces for the children's lucky dip and run an on-site workshop for youngsters to try their hand at making pottery.
