Record number of Top Shop nominees in Motueka
June 15th, 2011
Twenty-seven Motueka businesses have been nominated in this year's Nelson Mail Top Shop Competition. A variety of stores ranging from bakeries and florists to homeware and fashion have been nominated by Motueka's local loyal shoppers.
Motueka retail is reknown for an abundance of unique owner-operated stores and while many of them have been nominated, this year a few of the larger franchise stores are also in the mix.
Throughout the 20-year history of the Top Shop Awards, numerous Motueka businesses have been nominated in the regional competition. There have been two overall winners in recent years and a number of category winners, with many businesses being repeatedly nominated.
This year some of the Motueka businesses have gone all out to attract attention to their shop. The noticeably pink-themed windows of Abel Tasman Outdoors, VG Fruit and Vege, Amcal Pharmacy and Astrolabe are just some of the competing retailers who have created special Top Shop displays. There is a window competition which runs in conjunction with the Top Shop Awards, designed to inspire more customers to vote.
Top Shop voting ends at noon this Friday 17th June. Voting forms which are in the Nelson Mail 8th and 11th editions can be left at the Motueka Golden Bay News office.
