Selling raffles for the Hospice Trust
Join the Neslon Region Hospice volunteer team selling raffle tickets in Nelson. You spend 2 hours sitting on a raffle stand on a regular roster, buddied up with someone - you can bring a friend (they're welcome to join up too) or we'll introduce you to some great new people. You need the desire to give something special back to your community, integrity and trust, access to a vehicle is preferred. To find out more or sign up, call Lynda Marnie, Volunteer Coordinator on (ext 2) or email . You will be joining a group of 350+ special people volunteering their talents and time.
Motueka Riding for the Disabled
We are looking for volunteers who will be able to help with theraputic riding for local children. This may involve walking beside children whilst they are riding, instructing and aiding them, we also require people to lead our horses. Other jobs that are always needing doing are fence and land maintainence, and removing horse manure from paddocks. We operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays (term time only) between 8am and 3pm. Any time you can give will be useful, please call Julie Holt or RDA mobile .
Coffee morning assistants, dementia
I want to ask, on behalf of the Motueka based Field Worker, for any local people who have a few hours to spare one day each month to assist her with the running of a monthly coffee morning for dementia patients and their carers. The coffee morning is based on the very successful Alz Café that the Nelson/Richmond based Field Workers run at The Boathouse. The idea of the café is to bring the carer and their person together in a social setting to meet similar others over a cup of tea or coffee and a muffin. Contact Dawn Allan, Office Administrator, Alzheimers Society Nelson, .
Mentors
The Motueka Mentoring Programme urgently needs adults who like spending time with children aged 8-12 years old. Mentoring involves spending 2-3 hours a week doing normal activities such as fishing, walking, cooking, playing board games, making things in the workshop, just spending time talking and listening. Mentors will not be left to cope on their own - training and on going support will be provided. Please contact Pamela Hedlund on .

Family Service Centre - budget advisors wanted
First up, you do not need a vast knowledge on money issues. Budget advisors are foremost people-persons. They are non-judgemental, well organised, can inform and maybe also inspire. They need to be able to 'not take their work home', and enjoy small achievements, big achievements, and cases of no-achievement-but-we-tried-our-best (these do also happen). If you have approximately one day (or two half days, or 4 quarter days) per week available, and are such a person, contact Sjors, . Full training and support given.
Place your own advertisement
If you are a community group working in and for Motueka people, and you need volunteers to help in specific tasks for your organisation, you may advertise here, using up to about 100-120 words. Please make it clear exactly what the task entails - you won't attract helpers by just saying "General helping out". (Also it may help to first check out people who are offering to volunteer.)
Please (or email directly to ) and provide the details of your need. Include
? the job description,
? skills and time commitment required,
? your contact details.
