More picnic tables for Decks Reserve playground
February 27th, 2017
[by David Armstrong]
The Decks Reserve playground will be made more family friendly with the addition of four more picnic tables and eventually a shade sail for shelter.
The upgrade was initiated by new Community Board member Claire Hutt, and the tables will be built by the Motueka Menz Shed.
The lack of shade in particular for parents overseeing toddlers was identified by Claire as a need to encourage greater use of the playground equipment at the northern end of the reserve (pictured), beside Community House.
Timber and materials will be obtained at a discount from ITM Motueka, and concrete pads for the tables will be installed by TDC.
Menz Shed members will be ready to start construction once the quotes have been processed by TDC staff. The shade sail will need to be installed by Council approved contractors.
