'Weddingmoon' package promotion launched
June 9th, 2017
Local tourism promoter and wedding celebrant Terri Everett has launched the "Mountains to the Sea" promotion package for couples wanting something completely different for their wedding.
The aim of this promotion is to promote the Nelson-Tasman region as a world class destination for all, and especially for weddings.
Terri has been working relentlessly for the past four years on building partnerships, business collaborations and packages to enable complete wedding party packages, particularly for overseas families who may otherwise look only to Queenstown for a venue.
"Along with partnering businesses, I have the expertise and love for the area that bring a little something special to every significant occasion," says Terri, whose business is The Dream Maker.
It began with Terri's realisation eight years ago that Nelson and Tasman has everything and more to offer wedding couples and honeymooners in "one weddingmoon package". Her first, strongly promoted industry collaboration was in 2013.
"There was no need for them to look anywhere else. The quintessential charm of the region and the glories of the surrounding countryside plus the added bonus of everything being accessible to all budgets, makes it a highly desirable location."
A feature of the package is the production of a video that includes iconic locations, products and services, and then encourage the spreading of the audience particularly via social media.
"When we do a promotion we think carefully about how we generate the centre piece," Terri says. "On all occasions, couples have had an international connection, so we've been able to draw out the event to that particular country, via the couples efforts.
"The last two occasions we chose couples from Motueka. Jess and Carl had lost their deposit to leave New Zealand and marry in the USA, due to Jess's serious ill health. We made their dream come true.
"Our most recent couple has been Lawrence and Holly. Again an accident to Lawrence meant their plans to marry had to be put on hold and costs for his recovery escalated. We were able to bring their dreams to life with the Mountains to the Sea promotion package."
In return, couples understand that footage will be used as well as their story. "By using real people, not models, we take advantage of the audience empathy, which attracts them to see more and click on the video."
