Big prizes on offer in annual fishing contest
February 9th, 2017
Motueka RSA are organising the annual fishing contest for the first time this year - three days for fishing and a grand weigh-in in the RSA car park.
The contest will run from midnight Thursday 16th February till 1pm Sunday 19th February. That's three of fishing for those who want to fish further afield.
Entry forms, which can be obtained from Motueka RSA, Coppins Outdoors, Hunting and Fishing in Richmond and River Inn in Takaka, set out the rules.
The event will run along the same lines as previous years, with a fishing auction, prizes for different species of fish caught by adults and juniors - and a range of spot prizes for adults and juniors who hold entry forms.
There is a guaranteed $1000 prize for the biggest snapper, $500 second biggest snapper, and prizes in 7 categories of fish.
Refreshments, food and entertainment will be available for this family event, with weigh-in between 1pm and 3pm. The RSA indoor space will be used in the event of wet weather, otherwise the event will be held in the RSA car park.
All entrants are invited to attend the weigh-in event as all spot prizes will be up for grabs. Details can be found on the RSA Facebook Page or contact Daniel on 0277251875.
The entry fee is $30 for adults and $10 for juniors. Entry to the contest is by entry form to be handed in by 5pm Thursday 16th February 2017.
