Expressing thanks for a helping hand led to a Motueka woman winning a beautiful quilt made by the Crafty Tarts, raising money for the Motueka community swimming pool.

Robyn O'Donnell was looking for a parking space opposite BNZ in High Street a few weeks ago and saw a tight space in front of the temporary swimming pool shop, next door to Muses Cafe.

Outside the shop members of the Crafty Tarts with selling raffle tickets for the quilt, and used hand signals to help Robin back into the space safely.

"They were very helpful to me, so I thought I'd better buy a ticket as a way of thanking them," she says.

Now she is the proud owner of the quilt, while the swimming pool fundraising team were donated $961, the proceeds of the raffle.

Robin moved back to Motueka last November after being away for seven years. Both of her daughters were competitive swimmers, and she says that she has "always been astounded that Motueka doesn't have an indoor, heated pool".

"I hope the funds are raised soon, and I will definitely be using the pool when it's built, probably year-round."

She says she is absolutely delighted with her win and feels privileged to have won such a high quality product, especially knowing how much work the ladies of Crafty Tarts put into making it.

Second prize in the raffle, a gold watch, was won by Carole Cameron, and the third prize of a basket of Nutrimetics products went to Doreen Kramer.
