Motueka Library celebrates 160th anniversary

The Motueka Library is celebrating its 160th anniversary this month with a series of interesting speakers presenting a range of topics.

First up is a travel series, in which local people who have recently travelled to unusual places will describe their experiences:

  • French Escape: Discover the delights of France with Debbie Bowden. Wednesday 7th June, 6.30-8pm
  • Bali Expedition: Travel to a Balinese orphanage and school with Vickie Davis and Jenna Herreman. Wednesday 14th June, 6.30-7.30pm
  • Tropical Island Escapes: Immerse yourself in the island culture of Hawaii and Rarotonga with Pip Weir and Janine Gillions. Friday 23rd June, 2pm-3pm
  • Galapagos Islands Experience: Explore the extraordinary Galapagos islands with Susan Edwards Wednesday 5th July, 6pm-7pm

Light refreshments at all talks, Koha please.

Another special meeting will be a style coaching workshop with Lynn Crossland. Learn how to dress to flatter and enhance your body shape. Lynn will share tips on how to appear taller, shorter or slimmer so that you feel confident and fabulous. Tuesday 4th July, 2pm-3.30pm. Light refreshments. $12 per person, bookings essential.

Finally there will be a very special author talk by the celebrated NZ author Dame Fiona Kidman. "All day at the movies" is the latest book to be published by her.

Set in Motueka's tobacco fields in 1952 we meet some very interesting characters. We are also treated to some political observations and attitudes tracking in New Zealand through the decades.

This will be a Q&A session, and books will be available for sale and can be autographed. Wednesday 19th July, 6pm-7.30pm, Light refreshments, koha.
