Tasman community grants open next week

April 26th, 2016
[TDC press release]

Are you planning a great community event or project - but need a little help to make it happen? The Tasman District Council may be able to help.

Applications for Tasman's Community Grants open on May 2nd, and there is funding available for Tasman-based projects that meet a community need, join communities together and have community support.

Priority is given to projects that can show financial support from other sources as well.

Community Partnerships Coordinator Mike Tasman-Jones said past projects that had benefited from the Community Grants scheme included pest trapping programmes, walkway developments, community plantings, events, public art, and helping at-risk youth.

"We're moving to a simplified, online-only application form this year. To help people get started, we will be running sessions at our local libraries to demonstrate how to fill in the online form.

"Details of these will be posted on our website,, between May 2nd and July 31st when applications close."

Grants are available for projects that fit into the following categories:
    - Arts/culture/heritage/museums
    - Festivals and events
    - Youth and children
    - Social services
    - Environment
    - Emergency services
    - Sports and recreation facilities
