Creative talents on show outside museum

June 7th, 2015
[by David Armstrong]

The Motueka Museum forecourt was a focus of creative activity for a while yesterday when people gathered to express their artistic talents while listening to live background music.

The activity was hosted by a new group called Motueka Youth Creative Spaces, a spin-out from the Motueka Youth Summit held two weeks ago. Most of the organisation took place via Facebook. (See our earlier story.)

The group's goal is to generate creative and innovative ideas that can become "regular fun and alternative events in Motueka to allow young people to gather in larger groups to express their creativity, identity and voice in and around Motueka in fun, varied and dynamic ways", says one of the leaders Stephen Evans.

"It is also a place for all members of the community to enjoy, comment and share the expression and achievements of the diverse and talented youth of Motueka."

Here are some photos of the activities.
