Litter collection to extend along High Street

July 23rd, 2014

An anonymous donor is giving $1000 to Keep Motueka Beautiful if members could extend litter collection along High Street to the town's major entrances.

As a result, a handful of the KMB committee and friends have set up a roster to do a monthly litter sweep from Woodland Avenue to the southern roundabout and Fearon Street to the Motueka River.

The sections between Woodlands Ave and Fearon Street are patrolled weekly, thanks to financial support from several town groups and businesses.

The patrols will do a thorough monthly "pick-up" and individuals will keep a general "look-out" in between. The goal is to minimise the amount of litter seen by people driving in and out of town.

Keep Motueka Beautiful may also look at a similar system for the other main entrance road, King Edward Street, in the future.
