Local groups offered fundraising opportunity

February 17th, 2014

Motueka community groups, schools and sports clubs can use an upcoming comedy hypnosis show in Nelson to raise money by selling tickets and running raffles and auctions.

South African hypnotist Dave Upfold is putting on a series of shows at Tahuna Function Centre from March 3rd to March 9th at 7pm, and the organisers hope enough Motueka people will attend to warrant putting on a bus service to the performances.

Terri Everett, the owner of Dream Maker, has organised a 40-seater bus to run at $15 return, and needs a minimum of 10 people to organise the trip. The bus would pick up and drop off at one location in Motueka.

The Nelson leg of Dave Upfield's show is being organised by Nelson-based Nicki Turnbull of Travel HQ, a specialist in group travel in the Nelson-Tasman area.

She says one of their special extras is to get community groups, schools and sports groups on board. "We can give them rights to the nights to hold raffles, auctions and make money also from ticket sales," she says.

"We are still looking for groups who would like to take advantage of this offer, and they can contact me at or email .

"It's an absolutely hilarious show. Dave gets volunteers from the audience and allows cameras and videos, so it's great fun to watch what he makes the people up on stage get up to and if they are your friends or family you can record them!"
