Teen Bingo aims to expand young reading habits
April 8th, 2014
Are you a teenager and struggling to find something to read? Tasman libraries have got the answer for you with their new Teen Bingo game.
"With nine challenges on a bingo card, there's plenty of variation for teens to tackle over a six week period," says Glennis Coote, Tasman District Libraries Manager.
"We know this is an age where readers are starting to experiment with a range of genres - this is a fun way to nudge them to spread that further."
Making the competition accessible for all youth in the Tasman district has been a priority with online registration forms. If teenagers don't have internet access at home they can use the free internet at their library.
After registering you start on any square you want and work your way around the Teen Bingo card. On completing a line - vertical, diagonal or horizontal - readers get a spot prize. If they complete the whole card they go into a draw for movie passes, book prizes and a Kobo-Mini electronic book reader.
The Teen Bingo promotion is open to all secondary school aged teens in the Tasman District. It starts on Monday 14 April and finishes on Friday 16 May. The lucky winners will be drawn during Youth Week, 17th - 25th May.
So if you're a teen reader get into your local Tasman library today, pick up your card and take up the Teen Bingo challenge.
