Elevation becomes new sponsor of Motueka Online

This website has a new sponsor in Elevation Cafe, Restaurant & Bar, helping the site to remain an economically viable part of Motueka's community life.

We are grateful for the ongoing support of all seven of our current sponsors (listed below every news item such as this one) - without them it would not be feasible to continue to update the site daily and report on the community's goings on each week.

The site deliberately offers no advertising space apart from the sponsorships. This means not having to keep a complicated and time-consuming advertisement booking and charging system, not competing with the community newspapers, and making the site truly a community product.

In recent years Elevation has become one of the major go-to places in High Street to meet and socialise, and owners Andy Furness and Izzy Erridge have made a great effort to host group meetings, celebrations and community events and parties.

Why call it Elevation? In an area with so much emphasis on the national park to the north, Izzy and Andy say they chose instead to look west, to the Motueka Valley, Mount Arthur ranges and beyond to the Kahurangi.

"We have a deep respect for the mountains that are a constant backdrop in their daily lives, a sentiment that we know will resonate with many other locals."

As well as alluding to the mountains in the name Elevation, Andy and Izzy's passion for the surrounding area is also evident in the decor. The bar top is crafted from miro, and its frontage is Baton Valley macrocarpa, inset with stones from the Motueka River.

They serve local wine and craft beer and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
