Motueka 'moments' to air on Fresh FM

August 24th, 2013

A radio programme in which present and emerging community leaders talk about their visions for Motueka will begin airing on Wednesday under the title "Motueka Moments".

The programme will be broadcast live every second week from the Motueka Community House studio, with two Vision Motueka leaders, David Armstrong and Kahu Geor (pictured right), alternating as conversation starters.

David, who is involved with both Motueka Online and the year-old community development group Vision Motueka, was approached recently by Fresh FM's programme director Jo Ann Firestone.

She said she was impressed by the forward thinking of the group and the way it was connecting people together for positive action. She wanted their ideas and projects to receive a wider audience.

Vision Motueka is now actively involved to some degree in about 10 significant community projects, the most visible one being the town murals, and it is the forming of the group and the making of the first mural which will be the subject of the first radio show conversation.

Thereafter the show will feature informal conversations with people involved in Vision Motueka's projects and local people in general who are working toward a positive future for the town. Vision Motueka now has over 80 people on its 'supporters' list.

Motueka Moments will be broadcast every second Wednesday (starting August 28th) at 9.40am and repeated on the following Sunday at 4.40pm. Fresh FM can be heard in the Nelson-Tasman region on 104.8 on the FM band.
