Talent quest returns to uncover next big thing
September 23rd, 2013
[TDC press release]
The search is on for talented youth as 'Tasman's Got Talent' tours the District for its second year.
"People have lots of different talents - this is the opportunity for young people to unleash their creativity, and have a bit of fun on the way," says event coordinator Paul McConachie.
Heats will be held in Motueka at Memorial Hall, Saturday 26th October, 10am; Golden Bay at Takaka Showgrounds, Saturday 2nd November, 10am; and Richmond Town Hall, Saturday 9th November, 10am.
"Singers and dancers are welcome, but this is a true talent show - we want to see magicians, jugglers, musicians, comedians. If you have a talent, bring it. You never know what's out there, and it could just be the next big thing."
Contestants can enter as a soloist, a duo or as a group. There is no minimum age, but contestants must be under 20 years of age at the start of the first heat.
The top three performances from each heat will be recorded and shared online, for the online community to cast their vote on who they think desire to be crowned TGT champion for 2013. Voting opens at midday on Monday 11 November, and runs through to midnight on Friday 22 November.
The overall winner will walk away with the grand prize of $500 worth of Richmond Mall vouchers, with Mall vouchers also up for grabs for contestants who make it through to the final nine.
The quest will be hosted by a celebrity judge's panel that will critique and provide constructive comment on performances.
Interested performers can pre-register online at www.jamonline.co.nz/tasmansgottalent. A limited amount of performance slots are available at each heat, so get in quick to show the district (and rest of the world) what you've got.
