Wedding competition winners celebrate this week

October 19th, 2013

A wedding on Little Kaiteriteri beach next Tuesday, October 22nd, followed by a grand public fireworks display in Kaiteriteri, will mark the culmination of the high-profile Dream Maker dream wedding and honeymoon competition.

The competition captured the interest of thousands of radio listeners around the country in May/June as couples took part in fun challenges to win a $30,000 dream wedding and honeymoon package, courtesy of a collaboration of over 50 local businesses.

The ambitious venture, dreamed up by Kaiteriteri-based Terri Everett, aims to promote the Nelson, Tasman and Golden Bay area as the New Zealand capital for weddings, events and honeymoons, and to show the world what a great place, product and services we have for these and other events. (See our story here.)

Conor and Louise won the Dream Maker Dream wedding and honeymoon package. Conor is from Ireland and we have many of his friends and family ariving for the event. Louise is a local girl.

The prize runs from 18th October to the 29th October and combines all that is stunning about our region - the locations, the accommodation, the people and the types of business we have here, says Terri.

Starting today (19th October) Conor and Louise group will enjoy the Segway tour from 11am at the Honest Lawyer in Nelson (see photo added later, right), and then move onto the Sprig & Fern Brewery for a tour of the brewery and a taste of Nelson's best beer products.

They will continue in the Dream Maker Sabrina, the party bus, for the rest of their stag and hen night. Their first two night will be enjoyed at the Town House accommodation.

Then it will be on to the Waters for two nights and the wedding morning where a Tasman Helicopter will pick them up for a photo shoot with Nelson Wedding Photography.

The wedding is at 2.30pm at Little Kaiteriteri (with a wet weather option at Kimi Ora) where Perfect Style will dress the beach and The Wedding Whisperer will be the celebrant.

Lassie, the old Motueka Cadillac, will pick Louise up and then later take Louise and Conor to the Shoreline for their reception, with a beautiful cake from Flour Cake studio. The day will culminate with a public fireworks at 9.30pm in Kaiteriteri.

The couple will then stay three nights at Kimi Ora before boarding their Sea Limousines charter to a two-night stay at Awaroa. They will also enjoy a kayak experience with Sea Kayak company in Motueka.

They will then be picked up by the Dream Maker chauffeur car and taken to Split Apple Hideaway. Due to family commitments they will be taking their Golden Bay trip a little later, where they will enjoy two nights at Ferntown Lodge and Farewell Spit Eco tour.

As well as all of this, they got a dress from Puss Puss, rings from Jans Hansen, car hire from Pegasus, video recording from Pheye Videography, fireworks by Holderways and Sea Shuttle, catering from Flaming Hot Catering, and much more.
