Plenty of school holiday activities coming up
September 19th, 2013
As usual schools and Sport Tasman have organised a good range of "Boredom Buster" programmes to keep kids entertained and challenged during the up-coming school holidays.
Elite Care:
This is an Oscar approved programme, providing a fun and an affordable experience for children, run by Brynn Harris or Vaughan Creighton at Aniwaniwa Parklands School.
Activities include a Takaka experience, Master Chef cook off, fun fair day and heaps more. Twenty spaces are available. For information, phone 37, email or visit www.kidpower.org.nz.
Elite Care is for ages 5-13 years, runs from 30 September – 12 October 2013, 8.30am – 5.30pm each day, and costs $32.50 per day.
Kiwi Flyers:
This will be run at the Motueka Recreation Centre, and includes activities like rock climbing, skating, target shooting, baking and crafts.
Kids will build new friendships, learn new skills and just have plain old fun. The programme is CYF approved and WINZ subsidies apply for many working families. Places are limited. Contact Jody Maru, or .
Kiwi Flyers will run from 30 September – 11 October, 8.30am – 4.00pm each day. The cost is $28.50 per day, and is for ages 5 - 13 years, with groups of seniors and juniors.
Adventure Plus:
A programme is for children looking for something a bit different. Experience paintball at Happy Valley $45.00, Nelson Adventure $45.00, Kaiteriteri Adventure $45.00 and Totaranui camp $80.00. Or attend the full week for $200.00.
The emphasis is on managing risk, and organisers expect that children are able to manage their own behaviour. Contact Jody Maru, or .
Kiwi Flyers will run from 7 October - 11 October, 8.30am – 4.00pm each day. Cost varies depending on day (but affordability is the aim), and the programme is for ages 10 - 13 years. There are only 16 places available.
Whanau / My Family Storytime:
The Motueka Library is offering a free family hour with stories and craft based on the theme of celebrating family. Numbers are limited to 40, and it's for ages 4 - 11 (pre-schoolers with a grown up). Storytime will run on Tuesday 1 October, Thursday 3 October, Tuesday 8 October and Thursday 10 October, from 11.00am - 12.00 noon each day. It's free.
Weirdest Animals Scavenger Hunt:
Another library activity for 5 - 12 year olds will allow them to explore the jungles of the library and discover the 10 weirdest animals. It runs from Tuesday 1 October - Saturday 12 October, and is free.
