Memorial Hall renewal one step further on
April 18th, 2013
The next stage in a long project to bring Memorial Hall's facilities into the 21st Century has seen the installation of an air conditioning plant into the hall's ceiling, says an article in the Motueka Guardian.
The preson driving the hall's upgrades, Mark Wentworth, told The Guardian that this was the final chapter in his dream to upgrade the hall's electrical system, staging curtains, seating, acoustic quality and heating and ventilation. (See our earlier story).
Mark has managed to persuade the Tasman District Council to help fund the upgrades, but also has received huge amounts of support, financial and discounted materials and labour, from local donors and businesses.
Further work is planned to improve the attached meeting/supper room and kitchen, with funds allocated from the Motueka Community Board's Special Projects fund.
The biggest result of Mark's work has been the hall's subsequent use by world-class performers as part of their New Zealand tours, such as Watermelon Slim's concert tonight.
