Winning Ways to Wellbeing was the central focus of the St. Peter Chanel Vinnies attention recently as they produced artwork for the meeting room of Motueka Community House.
The project got off the ground when Susan O’Connell from SF Nelson, and Hilary Genet, Nelson Marlborough Health Board Promoter, visited the St. Peter Chanel Vinnies to talk about the five evidence-based actions people can take to enhance their wellbeing. These five actions are connect, learn, be active, take notice and give.
The Vinnies had the opportunity to reflect on how these actions fit into their life and then put these ideas into artwork by painting canvases based around these five key actions.
After the success of the Winning Ways to Wellbeing artwork last year done by the St. Joseph Vinnies for the meeting room at Nelson Community House, Motueka Community House willingly came on board in sponsoring this project. They were also fortunate to have qualified artist, Monica Hailes-Paku work with them in guiding the children with their artwork.
The artwork was presented to Motueka Community House on Thursday 4 July and will be on display in the Motueka Public Library during Mental Health Week which is the 7 – 13 October.
