Programme announced for Festival of Light

July 8th, 2013

The main programme of Festival of Light events taking place over the coming four weeks has been announced, starting with the High Street lights being turned on around 7pm on next Wednesday 17th July.

Camera Club Exhibition
This exhibition, totled "The way we saw it", will run for a month until Friday August 2nd at the Museum (it's already started). The favourite photographs of 103 club members will be displayed for your perusal.

Motueka Murals 2nd Mural
Friday 19th July around 6.30pm the image will be projected and marked out on Image Creators wall. Paining on the wall will run during the following week. Come along and share and support.

Cabaret Entertainment Evening
Saturday 20th July from 6pm till late, at Elevation Cafe Bar & Restaurant. Entertainment, food platters, auction, prizes, DJ. G. $30.00 per ticket. Fundraiser for St Peter Chanel School. Tickets from Elevation Cafe and the school. [SORRY, this event has been cancelled.]

Family Bike Ride
Sunday 21st July starting from Motueka Top 10 Holiday Park. 10am registrations, 10.30am briefing, 10.45am start. There will be loops of 5km, 8km and 10km on the Kumaras track. A spot prize-giving and a raffle will be run, with any money raised going to Breast Cancer Research Trust. Also a sausage sizzle. Contact Steve at .

Lantern Making
Wednesday 24th July from 10am - 12.30pm at the Motueka Library. For children between 3 - 14 years along with their parents. Then a walk through the Japanese Gardens by Magical Lantern Light that evening at 6pm. $8.00 per lantern. Fundraiser for Rudolf Steiner School. Contact Doris .

"Make a Beanie"
Competition entries close Thursday 25th July. Free entry, forms from Potters Patch. Contact Shirley Frater . Then on Saturday 27th to 3rd August there will be a beanie display at Potters Patch. Competition details here.

Christmas Supper
On Saturday 27th July at Riverside. Festive atmosphere, music, dancing, DJ and entertainment. Blair Kiddey from More FM is MC. A free bottle of wine for groups of six or more. Raffle proceeds to go to the Community Christmas Dinner for the less fortunate. $49.50 per person. Cash Bar. Tickets available at the Riverside Café, Elevation Cafe or by contacting Terri at or . Photography Exhibition
Friday 2nd August is the last day of exhibition at Museum.

'Happy Days'
For the week of Saturday 3rd to Sunday 11th August at Elevation Cafe, its 2nd birthday week will feature 'old school' cafe specials all week from 8am till 5.30pm. Crispy back (chicken that is), chicken nachos, ice cream sundaes, milkshakes.

Roller Disco
Friday 9th August from 6pm - 9pm at the Recreation Centre. Dress up in your retro gears and join in the fun. $5.00 per person.

Good Vibes 2013
This national skydiving event will run from August 12th - 18th. Hosted at Skydive Abel Tasman, it is now in its 12th year, and hosts around 150 skydivers plus visiting family and friends.

Motueka High School Students' Concert
Friday 16th August at 7.30pm at the high school hall. $5.00 adults, $2 secondary students, children free. Contact Hilary Sinclair at x 8226.

Family Fun Day
At Skydive Abel Tasman at the aerodrome on Saturday 17th August. This event will start around 2pm with an opening haka ceremony from the local school children. There will be food stalls, bouncy castles, face painting, music, performers and much more. Finishing around 6.30pm with a spectacular fireworks display at the airport.
