Wildfood dish competition at Motueka A&P Show
November 7th, 2013
A wildfood dish competition for the general public will be a feature of the 2013 ITM Motueka A&P Show to be held on Sunday 8th December.
Organisers are asking people to bring their favourite wildfood dish, and the recipe they used to make it, to the Fishing & Hunting Expo at the Show.
The judges will be Daryl Crimp, Kevin Hopgood and TV's Geoff Thomas. You don't have to have caught it .... just prepared and cooked it! Registration will be on the day until 9.45am.
With the theme this year being "The Sea", the show organisers are excited by some of the novelty attractions at this years show, including casting competitions, boats galore, a duck-herding dog, and a fire-tricks display.
Show secretary, Trish Palmer, said, "The show is already shaping up to be the biggest yet, with entries and trades looking good, and lots of great entertainment. The committee is proud to have been able to hold the gate prices at $5 per person, for a great day out.
"We are also thrilled to have the schedule going out in the Tasman Leader on the 27th November, so everyone can see what they can have a go at, from home-brew to home crafts, flowers to photography .... its all there!"
Concern about dogs at Marchwood Park
Motueka A&P Association are having a problem with folk letting their dogs off the lead for a run at Marchwood Park. In some cases, the owners are driving their cars around the Park, with the dog running behind.
Dogs are welcome at the Park, but must be on leads, and owners must be walking with them, Trish says.
"Marchwood Park is a great place to walk dogs, with the activities of the neighbouring airport to watch, and wide open space away from roads. But the dogs must stay on a lead for the protection of the stock on the Park, and other users, including horses and campers.
"The rules of the Park are posted at both entranceways. We are reluctant to ban any person from the Park, but owners caught with their dog off the lead runs the risk of a tresspass order.
"Last year we had a dog killed by another dog, and we simply cannot have this risk. We encourage folk to use the Park, as it is safe and a great place to be."
