Time running out to vote in elections

All Tasman residents and ratepayers have until the end of this week to return their voting papers for this year's Local Government election.
Electors should be aware that all voting papers have to be in the hands of the Electoral Officer by noon on Saturday October 12th to count.
As it is a postal vote, those who have yet to post their vote need to get their papers into the post by Thursday October 10th to ensure the papers are received on time.
For those who have not posted their votes by this time, they are able to deposit their votes in the following places on Saturday October 12th until 12.00 noon. Votes delivered after this time will not be counted.
- Richmond Service Centre Tasman District Council, 189 Queen Street,
- Takaka Memorial Library, 3 Junction Street,
- Motueka Service Centre, 7 Hickmott Place,
- Murchison service Centre/Library, 92 Fairfax Street.
Not only do Tasman people have the opportunity to choose their Mayor and Councillors, they can also contribute to the make-up of the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board.
Those people who have not received a voting pack may have missed out because they are not registered to vote, or have not updated their postal address. They can apply to go on the Parliamentary Roll or update their details up until October 11th by:
- Ringing the Electoral Enrolment Centre on ;
- Accessing the website www.elections.org.nz; or
- Completing an enrolment form at their nearest postal outlet.
Anyone who has not received voting papers may also apply for a special vote. Special votes can be made at the Council office in Richmond right up until the close of the polls at noon on October 12th. Please ring if you believe you need a special vote, or any other election issue.
