Next journal added to historical series
December 6th, 2013
[by Patsy O'Shea]
The Motueka Historical Association has published the eighth in its series of historical journals '... and so it began' featuring articles on the history of Motueka and surrounding districts.
Journal 8 is twice the size of the previous issue and covers a number of topics including: Commemoration of WW1, the history of some of our old homes, how some Motueka streets got their names, early Motueka newspapers, and much more.
- Who built and lived in those gracious old homes on High Street near the roundabout?
- Who were Hulbert, Pamarika and Vosper?
- Why and when was Memorial Hall built?
- Who on earth was Mears of Mears Haven?
With over 160 pages, Journal 8 answers these questions and many others as well as featuring a number of photographs from the Historical Association's extensive collection.
There is also a list of the contents of previous editions, a handy feature if you have a particular interest in a topic or person.
This would make a great Christmas present and priced at just $20 it's a real bargain. Available from Paper Plus and the Motueka Musuem, Journal 8 can also be posted for an extra $4 for post and packaging.
