Further improvements to Motueka facilities
November 6th, 2013
[by David Armstrong]
Further improvements to Motueka's civic facilities are being completed shortly in time for their use for Christmas activities.
Mark Wentworth and council staff have been working on improved lighting for the front of the Museum and have installed two permanent floodlights to light it up across the front at night.
They were finally put in by Mark last Friday at 4am and will be fully wired inside by Thursday ready to run. Mark says he has had them going over the weekend, but not properly, and will get the day light switch and timers sorted by this Thursday.
Meanwhile, a special project set up by the previous Community Board, to improve facilities in the kitchen and supper room of Memorial Hall, is about to be taken another step forward with the purchase of a new commercial dishwasher.
They have also got the okay to install a new kitchen cupboard, providing locked drawers and cupboard for the upgrade of the kitchen. This is Part 1 of two stages, and as Mark says, "We are on the way to getting our share of some council facilities money and community board money for this project.
Memorial Hall also has a new set of crockery, with some more on its way. The main set was first used for the Motueka Volunteers Awards afternoon tea event held on October 19th.
The full set will be in place early in December, ready for the big Community Christmas Dinner for Motueka's less fortunate on Christmas Day, to be hosted by Vision Motueka and St Andrews Church.
