Just one year until digital TV switchover

April 25th, 2012

The move to digital TV will become a reality for everyone in Motueka just one year from now, on 28th April 2013, and people in our area are being urged to prepare so they don't lose the picture.

To help understand what this means and what we have to do, Going Digital Community Advisor Guy Burns will visit Motueka Library on Tuesday May 1st between 10.30am and 2.30pm. He will be able to answer questions about the move to digital TV and explain what is required to go digital.

"Everyone in Motueka who wants to continue watching TV after 28 April 2013 will need the right set-top box and a satellite dish or UHF aerial," said Mr Burns.

With the move to digital TV, Mr Burns says it is also important to think about the second TV you may have in the bedroom and any other TV you may have as well.

"Every TV that you want to continue watching after 28 April 2013 needs a set top box as will any video or DVD player you want to continue using to receive and record programmes."

Several electronics and antenna businesses in Motueka can assist with the installation of the right aerial and other equipment.

For more details on how you can go digital, chat with Mr Burns when he visits Motueka. He will be available to meet with locals and talk to to groups. He can be contacted by email at or on 645. Alternatively you can visit or call .
