Tasman's Got Talent to hit Motueka soon

October 16th, 2012
[TDC press release]

The search is on for the terrifically talented as a new show tours the Tasman District. "Tasman's Got Talent" replaces Tasman Karaoke Superstars and the show's new format will give more people the opportunity to take part.

"People have lots of different talents, and we wanted to create a show where young people can unleash their creatively on the community, and have a bit of fun on the way," says TDC's Community Recreation Officer Paul McConachie.

Heats will be held in Golden Bay, Motueka and Richmond in late October and early November. The Motueka heat will be held at Memorial Hall on Saturday 3 November starting at 10.00am.

"Singers and dancers are welcome, but this is a true talent show - we want to see magicians, jugglers, musicians, comedians. If you have a talent, Tasman wants to see it."

Competition organiser Paul McConachie believes the talent quest show will unearth a few hidden surprises. "You never know what's out there, and it could just be the next big thing."

The competition is to be split into four categories - junior and senior solo sections, a duo section and a group section. Winning performances in each category at each heat will be recorded and shared online, for the online community to cast their vote on who they think should be crowned the inaugural TGT champion.

The overall champion will walk away with the grand prize of an Apple iPad 2, with a load of Richmond Mall vouchers also up for grabs for contestants who place in their heats.

The heats will hosted by a celebrity judges panel who will critique and provide constructive comment on performances.
