Applications for small community grants close soon

April 12th, 2012

The next closing date for Tasman District Council's Community Development Fund applications is April 30th, and the smaller communities in the Motueka ward such as Riwaka, Ngatimoti and Tasman are encouraged to apply for funds for development projects.

The aim of this fund is to enable Tasman District's smaller communities to apply for money to make plans, provide activities, or run events or services to enhance their township or to attract visitors. For the 2012/2013 year the allocation has been reduced to $20,000 per annum, distributed twice per annum after April and October.

The grants provide assistance for:
  -  Projects that demonstrate clear public benefit and support
  -  Projects that contribute to social, economic, environmental and/or cultural development
  -  Applicants must be from not for profit organisations
  -  Projects must be for charitable purpose and benefit the whole community
  -  Communities with a population of 4,000 or less will receive priority

The council says it wants to support innovative community-based initiatives that clearly show community support and benefit. Application forms are available at this web page.
