Motueka businesses urged to become cycle trail partners
November 9th, 2012
[Press release]
The Nelson Tasman Cycle Trails Trust (NTCTT) is encouraging local businesses to become Official Partners and support NTCTT as it works to fulfil its promise of creating a $7.8 million cycle and walking trail.
The trail is expected to bring employment, real economic growth and business opportunities to Motueka and the Tasman/Nelson region. Seventy-four businesses have signed up to date.
The Official Partner programme is enabling the NTCTT to turn its 2009 feasibility study statement into reality. The statement said that "By 2016 we expect 28,000 cyclists per year will contribute $20 million per year to the local economy".
To help attract the anticipated numbers of visitors to our region, and encourage them to visit local businesses during their stay, the NTCTT is wanting to secure 100 Food and Beverage businesses to take part in a comprehensive regional Food and Beverage Cycle Trail Passport, one of the NTCTT's key marketing products.
Due to launch mid-January 2013, the Passport will be suitable for use by anyone living in or visiting our region, no matter how they travel. It will be marketed to all visitors through a comprehensive network of local outlets and via the NTCTT website. The proceeds go towards keeping the cycle trails in top condition.
The 20-page Passport will contain detailed maps of the on- and off-road cycle trails in our region, including urban and rural cycle trails, as well as professionally written editorial to help guide and entertain our visitors as they enjoy their holiday.
Participants engage with Official Partners businesses via a purchase = a stamp game, much like having your passport stamped as you travel around the world. This format has been proven to encourage users to visit more businesses and spend more time and money.
The Trust aims to have similar success as Otago Central Rail Trail (OCRT) where 85% of cyclists who ride the OCRT buy its passport.
The first 100 businesses to become an Official Partner of the NTCTT will be given ongoing preference in future Trust marketing literature and promotions. If interested contact or phone .
