Facebook page for old Motueka photos

October 8th, 2012

The Motueka Historical Association is using a Facebook page called "Old Motueka" to show and share photos of the town and its buildings over the years.

Using the Facebook network means thay can not only make the images available to a broader audience than museum-goers, but also ask people to post their own photos to add to the online collection.

On the page, the main organiser of the initiative, Patsy O'Shea, says the page is to "share photos and memories of Motueka".

"We have a great history, both recent and 'days of yore' so we look forward to seeing and hearing much more of it on here."

Another sample image - High Street c1873. Check out those footpaths!

Great idea. I am interested in the size and height of the poplar trees in the background. They must have been planted very early in the town's development. Would that be the northern end of High St?
