Motueka River raft challenge loads of fun
February 7th, 2012

Our Town Motueka's river raft challenge yesterday drew 23 adventurous teams comprising a total of about 120 people, and there was lots of wet fun for all.
The event, resurrected last year and again well supported after a ton of organisation, will hopefully continue to be one of the town's major annual events. Who knows, in a few years time it may become an attraction that draws visitors from around the country, as well as a wide group of competitors, to the town for Waitangi weekend.
The Police's "Water Hog" team won a prize for "great style and elegance", while the "Sinkers" crew of Ross Maley, Bill Hollick, Haeleigh Albon, Chris Golding and Rod Markham was the first to finish, in one hour and 50 minutes. The slowest raft took about four hours.
Here are some photos of a few of the rafts that took part, taken by people at the Recreation Centre.
