Motueka Community Patrol wins new car from NBS

November 2nd, 2012
[NBS press release]

Motueka's Community Patrol has won the 2012 "Win a Car" Target Account promotion, run by the Nelson Building Society (NBS), finally giving it a car of its own to patrol our community.

The group is affiliated with Community Patrols New Zealand and its mission is to reduce crime and build safer communities. "It is the first time that a not-for-profit group has won this competition and we couldn't be happier", said Ken Beams, General Manager of NBS.

The new car is a 2012 Subaru XV Crossover which is a new compact 4WD model. The group was informed of the win by way of a phone call to Phil Donaldson, partner at Fletcher Vautier Moore, who is involved with the Patrol.

"I couldn't believe it", said Phil. "We have been fundraising hard for a car as we currently need to drive to Richmond every Friday to collect a TDC vehicle, returning it Sunday night. Winning this car will just make it so much easier for our patrol volunteers.".

The Target Account Promotion is run throughout the NBS branch network so the chance of such a small community group winning is slim. "I couldn't have wished for a more deserving recipient of the new car", said Howie Timms, Branch Manger of NBS Motueka.

"They are a group of hard working volunteers trying to make our community a safer place, and that is such a great fit with our goal of giving back to the communities where we do business". The car will be officially handed over to the Motueka Community Patrol 9am Monday morning at the Motueka Police Station.

This year NBS celebrates 150 years in business. The mutually owned building society offers a full range of banking products to personal and business clients.

Well done Community Patrol in winning an NBS car. And thank you, too, for all the time you put in to making Motueka a safer place.
