Meeting to urge emergency planning and disaster preparedness

Motueka businesses are being urged to think about and investigate emergency planning and disaster preparedness in the face of an increasing number of natural disasters being experienced around New Zealand.

Our Town Motueka is hosting a meeting for local businesses and property owners on Tuesday 5th July at 5.30pm at the St Johns Ambulance rooms, where Nelson Tasman Emergency Management Coordinator Roger Ball will present an overview of the regional defence structure, identifying hazards in our region and give tips on how to be prepared.

We are all becoming more aware of regional and local disasters, including flooding, storms, pandemics and earthquakes. Events in Christchurch in particular have shown that disasters can happen at any time and that they can deeply affect daily business life and community cohesion.

Refreshments will be provided at the meeting, and a lucky draw will provide an emergency kit from Mitre 10. Our Town Motueka says bookings are essential: contact or
